Background:First Baptist Church Niceville has established the Uncommon Faith Campaign (UFC) to payoff the church debt. Removing the debt line item from the operating budget will allow a greater portion of the tithes and offerings to be used in touching others for Christ.Current Debt Reduction. Weekly payments, using budgeted operating funds (tithes & offerings). This will continue along with Step 2. UFC Step 1 - Rapid Short-Term Reduction. Completed in Dec 2007 ($95,000 given) UFC Step 2 - Slower Long-Term Reduction. Started with commitment day on March 30, 2008 as an 18 month effort. Outstanding debt at that time was $263,000 (unless the entire balance is paid in one month, the actual amount required to pay off the debt will vary each month due to accumlated interest charges.) Goal:Give an additional amount over current, regular giving. The suggested amount is ten percent of the current amount given, or in other words, an additional $1 for each $10 normally given. Some may be able to give more, some less, but to reach the goal in the allotted time, the average giving must be $1 for every $10 that is currently given toward the budget. Doing this will be "Faith In Action".Making It Happen:"Faith In Action" days will normally occur the first Sunday of every month until the debt is paid off. This could take less than, or longer than, the 18 month plan.A separate Step Two envelope should be used for debt payoff gifts. Keeping this gift separate from normal tithes and offerings will greatly simplify financial accounting. Please pray for God's blessings in these efforts to be good stewards, and also for wisdom as the church seeks to apply His resources in reaching more people for Christ. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
