Meet Our Team
Dr. Mike mcgough, Senior Pastor
Dr. Mike McGough came to FBCN as our Pastor in February, 2008 after 30 years of Christian service as Pastor, Seminary Professor and College Dean.
He attended Ruckel Middle School, Niceville Sr. High and spent his teenage years growing up in the very church God has now called him to lead. Following the completion of a degree of business, he felt God's call on his life into the Pastorate. He completed his Master of Divinity and pastored for six years before returning to earn his Doctorate in New Testament and Greek.
Mike and his wife felt the call to missions in 1987 and they were appointed by the International Mission Board, SBC, to the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Alberta, Canada. Over the next fourteen years, Dr. McGough taught New Testament and Greek at the seminary, while serving in three interim pastorates and helping to start two new churches in the area. Between 2000 and 2006, the Lord led him to change his focus to preaching and pastoral ministry. During that time he ministered in surrounding churches, serving in two interim pastorates and starting "The Cowboy Trail Church," to evangelize the people in the ranching and agricultural community.
During this time, God led him to move again in 2007, this time to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) to serve as Academic Dean of the Joe Ingram School of Christian Service. As one of six academic deans, Brother Mike planned and regularly preached in local Southern Baptist Churches.
He met and married his wife, Nancy, while in seminary where she was pursuing a degree in Religious Education. Mike and Nancy are the parents of one son, Micah, who is married and lives in Alberta, Canada, and they have two beautiful granddaughters.

REV. MICHAEL VAN SANT, ASSOCIATE PASTOR - Children and STUDENTS
Michael began serving at First Baptist in spring of 2011. He grew up in Lilburn, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Michael attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia where he majored in Mathematics Education, and met his wife, Dana, who was also a mathematics major. After graduating in 2004, Michael and Dana got married on Berry's campus at Frost Chapel in March of 2005. They have two daughters, Sadie (2010) and Josie (2012).
The Lord called Michael into full-time vocational ministry in March 2001. He and Dana both have a heart and a passion for students and discipleship. During a 2006 youth mission trip to Mexico, Michael and Dana both heard God's call for them to serve in student ministry. When they returned home, Michael began his studies in the spring of 2007 at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. A month later, he was called to be the minister of Students at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia.
After serving four years at Calvary, the Lord called Michael and Dana to Niceville. Michael oversees the ministries for our students from middle school through college. He and Dana serve with a tremendous team of volunteers who are committed to investing into the lives and hearts of students. Our church believes students are uniquely created and gifted individuals, who are loved by God. It is our desire, and our mission, to partner with parents and families to see young people become life-long students, who follow Christ with obedience and passion.
