Dr. Mike McGough
Pastor
  • Business Management Degree, Univ of West Florida
  • Ordained by First Baptist Church, Niceville, FL
  • Master of Divinity, Southern Bapt Theological Seminary 1978
  • Doctor of Theology, New Orleans Bapt Theological Seminary 1987

Dr. McGough began serving as pastor of our church in February 2008, with over 30 years experience in preaching, pastoring, teaching pastors, and starting new churches.

Brother Mike finished high school at Niceville High and spent his teenage years growing up in the very church God has now called him to lead. He was first called into the ministry after receiving his undergraduate degree and he went on to obtain his Master of Divinity before pastoring churches in Kentucky and Tennessee from 1976 to 1982. He then returned to school for his doctorate, majoring in New Testament and Greek.

Mike and his wife felt the call to missions in 1987 and they were appointed by the International Missions Board to the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary at Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. Over the next four years, Dr. McGough taught New Testament and Greek at the seminary, while serving in three interim pastorates and starting two new churches in the area. Between 2000 and 2006, the Lord led his servant to change his focus to preaching and pastoral ministry. During that time he ministered in surrounding churches, serving in two interim pastorates and starting "The Cowboy Trail Church," to evangelize and disciple hundreds of ranchers and farm hands in that area of Canada.

God led him to move again in 2006, this time to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) to serve two years as Academic Dean of the Joe Ingram School of Christian Service. As one of six academic deans, Brother Mike planned and led the activities of nine college professors, served on six university committees, while teaching courses and regularly preaching in local Southern Baptist Churches.

He met and married his wife, Nancy, while in seminary. Nancy also has a degree from Southern Bapt Theological Seminary. She majored in Religious Education.

Monte Rowse
Associate Pastor, Minister to Students
  • BA in Business Administration, Baylor University, 1989
  • MA in Religious Education, SW Baptist Theological Seminary, 1996
  • Licensed to the Ministry by Baylor Baptist Church, Ennis, TX 1992
  • Ordained by First Baptist Church, Grandview, TX in 1996

Brother Monte is a native of Dallas and was raised in Ennis, Texas. He grew up in a Christian home and never knew what it was like not to attend church. He accepted Christ into his life at the age of nine, while attending Vacation Bible School.

Before coming to First Baptist Niceville, Brother Monte served as Minister of Music, Youth, Students, and Education at churches in Texas and Louisiana. He began his ministry here at First Baptist Niceville in February 2003. His aim is to focus on the spiritual growth of students and minister to their parents, as well.

When asked about Student Ministry at First Baptist Niceville, Brother Monte said, "It is my desire for God to move us beyond simply seeking His hand, but rather His face. This generation of students is the most abused, neglected, and misunderstood generation in history. Hopelessness has gripped their hearts. However, when you bring that kind of people in contact with Jesus Christ, they will explode. They explode into worship; they explode into love and adoration for God. Throughout history, God has always had a champion in the making. I still believe that this generation of students is the greatest hope America has. They have been tossed aside and unfairly labeled, but God calls them to be a generation of champions. We invite all teenagers and parents to join a ministry that is developing a generation of champions!"
